BIMstream provided scanning, 360° image capture, and modeling for St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, MA. In a hospital setting, following HIPAA protocols is priority number one, which took careful planning and execution by our team to scan sensitive areas with the supervision of hospital staff. Coordination with the facilities staff was required to gain access to all required areas, including all mechanical spaces. The mechanical spaces we scanned were included as a separate MEP model linked to the architectural model.
We worked closely with Steward on specific materials, finishes, and manufacturers so we could build that data right into the BIM model. With that coordinated, we could create room, finish, and door schedules. And because the materials and finishes were the exact specifications of what would be in the field, we were able to deliver very realistic visualizations and VR applications in both Unity and Enscape.
