The team at BIMstream scanned two condo buildings, consisting of approximately 700,000 square feet in Boston, MA. The purpose of the project was to provide updated architectural blueprints and create an existing conditions model. Unlike other residential projects we have done, Whittier Place was unique because the tenants had ownership of their apartments, and so there were countless, undocumented architectural changes made that had to be captured.
Our team not only had to scan the functional spaces of the building but was also required to go above ceiling tiles and inside wall chases. In order to accomplish this, our team utilized a combination of mobile LiDAR scanners to capture these hard-to-reach spaces, as well as gathered supplementary imagery to help identify artifacts in our data.
